Program Background
R is a fascinating programming language and is now used in a range of professions including software development, business analysis, statistical reporting and scientific research. It’s more likely than ever that you’ll encounter R in your organization and even more likely to use it yourself. So why not add it to your resume? Enroll in our course on R Programming and learn the language that has grown significantly in popularity. Analysis of jobs posted on indeed.com show R and Python as two of the most popular language for data science and machine learning(Source: kdnuggets.com).
Analytics is an essential skill needed to run your business successfully. Common applications of analytics include the study of business data using mathematical & statistical analysis to discover and understand patterns which will help predict & improve business performance in the future. Analytics is an integral part of most businesses, and most successful entrepreneurs and business managers have generally been analysts in their own right, even if the analysis they have been doing has largely been intuitive.
It was projected, sometime during 2013, that 90% of the world’s data had been created during the preceding two years going back from that date. As the volume of data grew exponentially, the demand for statisticians, data scientists and professionals capable of organizing, dissecting, summarizing and analyzing the data also grew by leaps and bounds . The domains of Big Data and Predictive Analytics became one of the most important disruptive technologies increasingly used by organizations for accurate projections, forecasts and innovative insights into probable future scenarios. This, in turn, blended well with the other important disruptive technology, A.I., which needed to look at and make sense of huge volumes of data as part of its ongoing and progressive learning processes.
Why ‘R’
The programming language ‘ R’ is one of the two most important languages used by data scientists, statisticians as well as Predictive Analytics and Big Data Analytics practitioners. It is also important for those working in the domain of machine learning and cognitive computing.
What are the prerequisites for those interested in doing the course
Nice-to- have: Knowledge of at least one programming language.
The key takeaways of this program are:
- Train to work as a data scientist and as a member of the Analytics team in organizations, after successful completion.
- Able to write customized routines and programs to take care of in-house requirements of organisations in the domains of Big Data and Predictive Analytics.
- Be considered as the member responsible for data preparation, analytics in the machine learning and deep learning implementation team in an organization.
Faculty – Dr. S Das
Dr Das graduated in Electrical Engineering and has subsequently done his Ph.D. in the same discipline, after doing his post-graduation in Control Systems. He has several years of industry experience and is currently an Asst. Professor in the Department of Data Science for a private University, where, among various subjects, he has also been involved in teaching ‘R’. He has a number of published papers in the domains mentioned to his credit and is a visiting scientist at the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), involved in the areas of Statistical Quality Control & Operations Research. His research interests include Data Analytics, Stochastic Systems and Real-time Systems.
